A Simple Fall Home Tour
This simple fall home tour is full of beautiful and easy ideas for decorating any home for autumn!
I love fall. Sweater weather. Football games. Pretty leaves. Apple cider. Hay rides. Alllll the pumpkin things. I love it all.
There’s just a sense of excitement that comes along with this time of year that makes me nostalgic. Maybe it was because we were such a big football family growing up. I mean, we live in Steelers country, so it’s hard not to be a football fan. (Well, this year has been a bit of a hot mess so far, but I’m still holding out hope… 😉 )

Along with cheering on the black and gold on Sundays, my dad was also the high school football coach growing up, so my sister and I spent many Friday nights on the sidelines as the little ball girls, running water and making sure there was always a clean, dry football ready to go.
When we got a little older, both my sister and I were cheerleaders at the games and loved those Friday night lights in the fall!
And these days, of course, I look forward to fall decorating! As I mentioned last week, this year I decided to forego the typical fall color scheme and keep it simple by sticking with my standard palette of lots of neutrals with pops of aqua.
I realize it’s not exactly “traditional,” but a few little pumpkins can go a long way in helping just about any color scheme feel like fall.
I was so excited that our hydrangea bush (Tree? What is the official term?) out front absolutely exploded with beautiful blooms this year. I didn’t even have to make a trip to the store to grab any flowers because they were so pretty… a perfect green with just a hint of rose on some of the tips.

Now before you go and think that I am in any way responsible for growing said gorgeous hydrangeas, I will fully admit that I am not. I have a black thumb, actually. But we happened to get a good amount of rain in recent weeks, so we just went with the “leave them alone and see what happens” strategy, and it seemed to work in our favor. 🙂
This past week we hit the two year mark of living in this house. Fastest two years ever.

Our living room may win the award for “most improved” in that time. When we moved in, it was this big, stark white box that was boring and empty feeling, and no matter what I did it felt sterile and unwelcoming.
I just kept plugging away at it, though, and now I’d say it’s downright cozy! My throw pillow obsession may help with that a bit. 😉 Sweater pillows + buffalo check pillows = instant fall!
I really am trying to get better about pillows. At one point my boys were telling on me every time I bought a new one because they thought we had too many… oops! And while they are so pretty, have you ever tried to store a bunch of pillows?! They take up so much space!
So now I have designated two shelves in my office for pillows that aren’t currently in use around our house, and if I get a new one and those two shelves are full, I have to get rid of another one. It has actually worked out well, because don’t we always go back to our old favorites anyway? I know I do.
I also try to just get the pillow covers whenever I can. Those take up way less space, and they are so easy to switch out. (And they’re cheaper too– woohoo!) I still don’t know that I’ll ever be a pillow minimalist, but I’m okay with that. 🙂
Do you have a certain home decor item or clothing item that you seem to collect a lot of? We all probably have our weaknesses!
Well that pretty much wraps up our fall home tour!

Your are MAJOR house goals!!!
Question – the side table you showed with the lamp that is from target…where is that round table from?? Also I know your pendants were purchased in close out but do you mind sharing from where you got them??
Thank you 🙂
Thank you so much for your sweet words, Sara! The side table was from Overstock, but I don’t believe they carry it anymore, sadly. They may have something similar, though! The pendants were from Wayfair and they are Laurel Foundry Modern Farmhouse brand. I hope this helps! Have a great day!
