Scrappy Spring Bunting
Today I’m welcoming spring on the blog! I decided on scrappy spring bunting for my first spring project.
I’ve been wanting to make a fabric scrap banner for a long time now! Here’s what I used to put it together:
- Fabric of choice (I used 5 patterns.)
- Ribbon
- Scissors
That’s it! It really is SO simple to make! I started out by cutting my fabric into strips. I used fat quarters, so they were 21″ long, and I made my strips 2″ wide. After all 5 fabric types were cut, I had about 60 strips.
With my strips cut, I began to assemble my banner.
I left the ribbon attached to the spool so I wouldn’t have to worry about cutting it to the correct length just yet. I took one of my fabric scraps, folded it in half, and slid it under the ribbon (1).
Then I took the two ends of the scrap and pulled them through the loop that was created when I folded the scrap in half (2).
I pulled it snug, creating a little knot at the top of my scrap (3).
I kept adding scraps in this way, strategically trying to make my pattern appear random (4).
I added my scraps until there were none left, and I had my banner (5)! SO easy, people!!
I even hung it myself with a hammer and a level and everything… we’re getting serious around here! 😉
