Hi, Erika! We just used a cabinet screw to attach the wooden rod to the cabinets. So if we were to take the rod down, there would be one screw hole in each cabinet. We don’t have any plans to ever remove the rod, so we were fine with putting one screw through the side of each cabinet. Hope you’re having a great week!

In search of laundry room makeover I came across yours and like many other comments, it checks off all my “needs”! I appreciate the tip on IKEA cabinet sizes. I hang dry 80% of our clothes but can’t figure out how you installed the rod without damaging the cabinets. Please elaborate that process! Thanks and very well job done ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hi, Jodie! Our laundry room is on the second floor of our house, so that is a tray to catch any overflow water in case of a leak to keep it from dripping down into our kitchen below! I think it is a pretty standard fixture for second floor laundry rooms. ๐Ÿ™‚ Hope you’re having a great week!

I love your laundry room! It turned out beautiful!

What do you have beneath your washing machine? Is it a tray to keep water off of your floor or does it protect your floor from getting scratched?

Thanks!

Hi Abby,

Thanks for the quick reply and info! Iโ€™ll definitely need the step ladder- Iโ€™m 5โ€™1โ€.

Hi, Kenorsha! I am 5’4″ and can reach the bottom shelf of the cabinets easily. To reach the higher shelves, I use the fold-up stool that I keep in the laundry room, which is quick to grab. I didn’t want to move the cabinets any lower because I needed the lid of the washing machine to be able to open the whole way so I didn’t have to try to hold it up and transfer clothes at the same time. I hope this helps! Have a great day!

I love your design, and might end up copying it! I think we have the same or very similar appliances (Samsung), and I am curious, how easy it is to access cabinets above them?
We donโ€™t have a linen closet, and the those cabinets, and one between the washer and dryer would serve that purpose. Thanks to your linen closet tips, I will store sheets and blankets in their respective rooms!

Are your rags for cleaning, iron, and ironing board elsewhere?
