In the past I’ve always done 1 big day where we take everything out, switch out our rotation toys and organize it all. It only lasts a day and takes so much time and energy I have very little motivation to do it. I’m loving doing it by categories rather than all at once. Also, we love the toy rotation that Kathy mentioned. It is so exciting to get the old toys down and it really helps manage the clutter!

Thanks Abby, I appreciate your comments greatly. Mom and I lived in the same house and I know itโ€™s going to be awful going through her clothes, etc. One day or even just one minute at a time! Be safe with the crazy upcoming weather. Iโ€™m in northern VA about 45 minutes outside of DC.?

Hi, Wendy! I’m so sorry to hear about your mom’s passing. I know that must be so tough. The first thing I would say is to give yourself grace. If those items have significant meaning to you, I wouldn’t force yourself to give them up. Your feelings about the items may change over time, so you can always come back and reevaluate later. And if they don’t, that’s okay too. We all go through the grief process in different ways, and it can take a long time.
