A Fun Kids’ Craft Table Makeover
Hi, friends! First, I have to say THANK YOU so very much for all of your incredibly sweet comments about the Cs’ room! You totally made my MONTH! {If you missed the big reveal, you can check it out here!} If you caught the reveal on Tuesday, you probably saw the little kids’ craft table and chairs in the Cs’ art nook. It wasn’t always so colorful! In fact, it used to look like this:
I truly didn’t mind the color or look of the little table at all, and I went back and forth several times about whether to paint it. When we put it in the Cs’ new bright and colorful room, though, it just didn’t seem to fit, so I busted out my painting supplies and got to work. I didn’t use any complicated process or anything. I just primed it, painted the table base white, gave the top a few coats of chalkboard paint, and I was ready to call it a day.
But I have this problem. I have a hard time leaving things alone. The table was sitting in my living room drying {yes, the living room. It’s too cold to paint in the garage, and I’m a wimp!} and I just kept looking at it and thinking, “It still needs something…” I had a sample of green paint {Behr’s “Rolling Hills” to be exact.} that I was planning to use to paint the letters of Caleb’s name to hang on the wall, so I got it out and started thinking of ways to use it. I thought a dipped look might be cute so I measured and taped up the legs. I then used my favorite technique to make sure I got nice crisp, clean lines: I sealed the tape line with some white paint and let it dry before I started with the green.
As soon as I began painting on the green, I knew I loved it. It was just what this plain little table needed! To add even more color, I painted the chairs as well. The orange is Behr’s “Pumpkin Patch” and the blue is called “Jazz Blue,” also by Behr.
I think it fits nicely with the rest of the craft nook, and it’s definitely a better fit with the rest of the room!
You should have seen Connor’s face when I told him he could write on the table. He couldn’t wait to get started! And once Caleb caught on, he jumped right in too!
Such intense focus! Coloring with chalk must be such hard work. 😉
And of course, my favorite part of any makeover: the before and after shots!
As I said earlier, I didn’t really dislike the “before,” but for this space I think the “after” works a lot better.
Have you painted any furniture lately?
This is adorable Abby! I really wish my kiddos were this little again. I used to have a table like this that I fed them lunch on…sniff sniff 🙁
Ah, yes, but you don’t have to change any diapers! 😉 I know I will be sad when mine get bigger too. I’ve already asked them to stop growing, but they’re not listening! Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!

What a fun transformation! Your little guys are the cutest and they really are focused. You’re tempting me to paint Brennan’s little table now!
What?! There’s furniture in your house that hasn’t been painted?! 😉 I’m sure if you decide to paint it, it will be absolutely gorgeous! Hope you’re having a great weekend, Christy!
