Seasonal Simplicity Fall Home Tour
It’s fall home tour day! Home tours are some of my favorite posts, both as a blogger and as a blog reader. I love getting sneak peeks into beautiful homes all gussied up for the season. So I invite you to grab your favorite beverage, plop down on your cozy couch (or chair or bed 🙂 ), and relax and enjoy the pretty pictures!

Welcome to our home! C’mon in! Our first stop will be the living room, where you may notice that some things have changed since our summer tour!
That far wall has always bothered me. I have tried a bunch of different decor pieces there, and nothing really seemed to fit well. Then just this past week I made some really large canvas art, Donnie helped me frame them, and we hung curtains… and I finally love it.
The bamboo shades are these ones in the Bali Abaca color— we love them!
It only took a year of living here to get it right… at least for now. 😉
I promise to post a tutorial for the canvas art + frames soon. They were really so simple to make and immediately grab your attention when you walk into the room. I have always loved that hymn and love having it as a daily reminder in our home.
I don’t really decorate with oranges and yellows and reds much, but I will use blue on any day of the year! 🙂 I’ve sprinkled in some copper throughout our home, which plays off the blue and gives more of that autumn feel.
I love styling the built-in shelves for each season. There is a lot of shelf space, so it’s always a fun challenge to try to fill them with seasonal touches that all tie together well.
I may pick up a few new things for each season, but for the most part I’m able to use a lot of neutral pieces that I already own. Shopping your own house really can be the best kind of shopping!
I ended up changing up the wall decor above the love seat a little bit too recently…
I took down some frames that I wasn’t loving on either side of my window from Magnolia and replaced them with some wall vases I found and spray painted from Hobby Lobby. (If we’re being honest, they may get spray painted again, so don’t be surprised if they’re a different color when you come back for our Christmas tour… 😉 )
For the centerpiece on the coffee table, I started with a tray that was another Magnolia find, added a bunch of pumpkins– big and small– and then filled in with all sorts of faux greenery. (I am a huge fan of faux greenery since live greenery seems to die if I even look at it…oops!)
I always keep an eye out and snatch up a bunch of greenery when it’s on sale. I find it everywhere from Michael’s and Hobby Lobby to IKEA and even the Target Dollar Spot.
Above all, fall makes me want to cozy up with fluffy pillows and a comfy throw, so I made sure to add in plenty of those in our living room as well!

Before you head to the next stop on the tour, let’s take a quick peek into the dining room!
I kept things really simple in the dining room. We eat the majority of our meals at the kitchen island, so I can leave the table decor up pretty much all the time, and it makes me smile every time I walk in the room!
I did a similar centerpiece with pumpkins and faux greenery and added in some more copper as well!
One of my very favorite things to decorate for each season is our hutch, which was a hand-me-down from my grandmother.
I painted it white a few years ago, and it’s always fun to fill it with different pretty items depending on what time of year it is.
The boys have seen me rearrange the hutch so many times that sometimes they will come in while I’m doing it and “help.” 🙂
I’m not going to lie– there have been a few times where they’ve come up with arrangements and I thought, “Wow, that’s actually pretty good!”
Maybe I should let them decorate for our next home tour… okay, probably not!
Have I mentioned I have a thing for DIY canvases?! I made this set at our old house and brought them with us here. Donnie’s best friend sang and played “In Christ Alone,” at our wedding, so that makes them even more special!

Beautiful!!!
I have two question for you:
1) Is there a tutorial for the DIY canvases in your dining room? If not, would you mind, making one? I would LOVE to make sth. like this myself.
2) Are the white, purple and green pumpkins real or fake? (Here in Germany we mostly get orange ones and maybe very, very small ones in funny colors)
Thanks in advance! Have a great day!
Hi, Susanne! I did a tutorial for that type of sign here: https://justagirlandherblog.com/how-to-make-a-hand-lettered-sign/ . The tutorial is for the Amazing Grace sign that currently hangs in our sunroom, but I used the exact same method and even the same font for the signs in our dining room. And all of the pumpkins in this tour were fake! 🙂 I took the pictures pretty early, so most of the places around here didn’t have the real ones out yet! Hope you’re having a great day!
~Abby =)
So, I love your decor and it’s so similar to mine, that in one picture, I realized that I thought I was looking at my living room!!! You’ve given me some inspiration for fall decorating, so thank you! Your home is a blessing to look at;Thank you for sharing!
I noticed the address; Are you in the Pittsburgh area?
Thank you so much for your sweet words, Ericka! Yes, we are from Pittsburgh and love it here! 🙂 Hope you’re having a great day!

Oh, what a pretty home! 🙂
Actually it might not be typical for a girl in my age, but I am very into decoration. And I love the way you did it. To be honest, my favorites are the pumpkins.
This season is always the time to decorate my room in a new way. Let’s see. 🙂
Greetings from Germany,
Charli

I love the hutch and the centerpieces you made for the coffee table and dining table! They’re gorgeous with that faux greenery and pumpkins! I also seem to kill any kind of live plants if I even look at them. Thank God for my amazing husband, who waters them and keeps them alive if we have any in the house!
Glad I’m not the only one with a black thumb! Lol! Hope you’re having a great week, Isabel! <3

Such a pretty home and I love all of your little details in your grandmother’s hutch. What a fun place to add seasonal touches! Cheers – Kristy
Thank you so much for your sweet words, Kristy! Hope you’re having a wonderful week!

Abby,
I love your home. Absolutely gorgeous! I was wondering – how many of your decorating items (say in your living room) stay there year round and how many do you add in depending on the season? I am trying to go the all neutral decorating style and will need to build up my rotating decorations and am trying to figure out how to get started. Thanks and keep up the wonderful posts!
Jackie
Hi, Jackie! I have a similar strategy to what you’re describing. I collect a bunch of neutral items like stands, trays, books, and different types of vessels that I can use throughout the year. Then I just add in the seasonal elements, like pumpkins in this instance, and usually change out a few throw pillows for each season. I hope this helps! Have a great day!
~Abby =)
Stunning!!! You have given me so much inspiration for my own fall home “makeover”! Thank you 🙂
So glad it was helpful for you, Hannah! Have a great day!
