10+ Craft Room Storage Ideas to Keep You Organized

These brilliant craft room storage ideas will help you organize your creative space! Organize sewing supplies, vinyl rolls, painting and art supplies, kids’ crafts, and more!

My craft room is always one of my most favorite rooms in our house, but when all of the creative juices start flowing, it can be one of the toughest spaces to keep organized!

Because I know it’s so much more fun to craft when I can actually find my supplies, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite craft room storage ideas so we can all gain some inspiration for organizing our own creative spaces!

Brilliant Craft Room Storage Ideas

1. Use unlikely areas of your home for craft room storage and organization.

Beth from Beth Bryan Designs has always had one of my favorite craft rooms on the internet, and would you believe she created this beauty from an unfinished attic space?!

Along with the genius renovation of a previously unusable space in her home, Beth really maximized every inch of her craft room with smart organizing solutions so she can always find the supplies she needs.

2. Paint and frame a pegboard to organize craft room supplies.

This was a dingy green pegboard that I found in the basement of a building that my parents were cleaning out, and I gave it new life with some paint and a DIY frame!

I love that it keeps my paint, mod podge, ribbon, and markers neat and organized while acting as a beautiful statement piece in the room at the same time!

3. Use clear bins so you can easily see your craft supplies.

Aubree from Aubree Originals has a ton of craft supplies, but she can always find what she needs quickly and easily because she has everything neatly organized in clear bins!

Along with handy labels, Aubree can easily see what is in her bins at a glance, saving her valuable time when she is in the midst of a fun project.

4. Or use opaque bins to hide craft supplies out of sight!

Christin from My Homier Home used the opposite strategy from Aubree and created a tidy, streamlined look in her craft room by keeping her supplies tucked away.

There are definitely pros and cons to both clear and opaque storage pieces, and both types can work to create organized craft room storage. You can choose the one that works best for your specific space and the look you’re going for.

5. For small spaces, bring in a small craft cabinet.

Emily from Small Stuff Counts had a lot of craft supplies to store but not much space to organize them. Enter, her pretty and practical craft cabinet!

By dividing up the cabinet with stackable acrylic drawers, Emily was able to make the most of the small space she had and have easy access to all of her supplies.

6. Split up bookshelves with bins, jars, and trays to maximize craft room storage.

I loved this bookshelf setup in the very first craft room I ever had! The open shelving gave me easy access to all of my supplies, but the woven bins hid away messes and split up the space so it didn’t look haphazard.

I used trays, vases, and jars to hold more supplies, which doubled as organization and pretty decor.

7. Maximize vertical space with stacking drawers and bins.

Kelli from Craft Room Time really made the most of the closet space she had available by going vertical!

I especially love her use of drawers in this space. Rather than stacking and unstacking lidded bins to get to what she needs, she can just pull open a drawer, grab the item, and close it back up again.

If I have a choice between stacking drawers and stacking lidded bins, I will choose the drawers every time! They really make it so much easier to access your supplies.

8. Use acrylic bins with labels to store your vinyl rolls.

I love a good Cricut cutting machine project, but I quickly accumulated a bunch of rolls of vinyl that needed to be organized.

For oh-so-simple vinyl roll storage, I grabbed several large acrylic bins and divided my vinyl by type and by color scheme.

HTV has two bins– one of colorful HTV and one of neutral HTV. And adhesive vinyl has two bins, again divided into colors and neutrals.

This system has worked well for me for years now. It also helps keep me accountable by limiting my available space for vinyl. I only let myself buy more rolls if I have room in the bins!

9. Use the IKEA PAX system to customize your craft storage.

I love a good IKEA project, and Sara from Birdz of a Feather absolutely nailed this one!

She used IKEA’s PAX system to create a custom closet for storing her craft supplies. I am drooling over all of her lovely, organized pull-out drawers and trays!

I especially love the drawers with the acrylic fronts that allow her to see what’s stored in them at a glance.

10. Organize craft supplies by category.

I know it’s tempting just to throw all of our craft supplies in a bin, but we will be kicking ourselves when we go to start our next craft project and can’t find the items we need.

Brooke from Happy Simple Mom advises to categorize craft supplies first– all painting supplies together, all stickers together, all sewing supplies together, etc.– and then find the appropriate bin or container for each category.

11. Create a slide-out peg board to keep things accessible but hidden.

You know I love a pegboard, so I thought this idea from Sara from Birdz of a Feather was genius!

She put her pegboard on a slider so she could easily pull it out to grab her craft supplies but then tuck it back into a cabinet out of the way when she’s not using it. So smart!

12. Use the combination of drawer liner + acrylic organizers for pretty and practical drawer organization.

This is a rule I follow for my craft room, as well as in so many other rooms of the house!

The drawer liner provides the perfect pop of color and/or pattern that peeks out from underneath the clear bins so the space is not only functional but beautiful too!

Here is the drawer liner + acrylic bin combo in the drawers of my own IKEA PAX unit in my craft room…
