DIY Teacher Gift with FREE Printable
Soooo things have been a little hectic around here lately. We have a couple renovation projects going on and are wrapping up all of our end-of-the-school-year activities…add in Mother’s Day and a few church events, and I’ve pretty much just been a total crazy person. 😀
It wasn’t until the end of last week that I realized I hadn’t put together gifts for Connor’s teachers for the last day of school, so while wracking my brain trying to think of something cute and creative (and probably feeling partially delirious from lack of sleep), I was just like…
Really, that’s exactly what I looked like. 😉 I had seen several adorable pins that would make great gifts, so why not just combine them into one super-duper-mega-Pinterest-inspired gift? Let’s do it, shall we?
Coffee Themed Teacher Appreciation Gift with Free Printable
Supplies
- cellophane bags
- Sharpies
- white mugs
- Hershey’s kisses
- Starbucks gift cards
- printable gift tag (provided below)
Design and Bake
I love the DIY birthday plates floating all over Pinterest where you decorate the plate with a sharpie and bake it to set (like this adorableness). I figured that if it could be done with plates it could surely be done with mugs, too, so I decided to go for it.
I had also come across this little tag line idea while perusing the Pinterest boards and thought it would be perfect. After drawing my design on the mugs, I baked them at 350* for 30 minutes so the sharpie wouldn’t wear off or smear.
Fill and Tag
I filled the mugs with some Hershey’s kisses and tucked in a Starbucks gift card before wrapping them up in cellophane bags and adding my tag.
I’m sure you’ve probably seen the “Thanks a ‘latte'” line in pins like this one before! If you want to make your own “Thanks a ‘latte'” teacher gift, feel free to use the printable below!

How precious are these?! I lol’d (literally) at the “combine all the pins” meme. Well, you’ve combined them into one epic teacher gift, I must say. As a teacher, I can attest this would be an AWESOME gift to receive. Lovely work, Abby!
Thanks, Lauren! I’m glad it has the teacher stamp of approval! You are my hero for teaching; I taught for a little while before I had kids, and it was the hardest job I’ve ever had! {But fun-hard, most of the time!} Hope you’re having a great week!
~Abby =)
very fun!!! Teachers will love this!

I just popped over to your blog to look and I LOVE yours! As a former teacher, I know she will appreciate that your daughter made it herself! Sometimes I am too type-A and should let go and let my kids do more stuff like that… so good for you!!! Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!
~Abby =)
Very cute idea!
Thanks so much, Jeni! Hope you’re having a great weekend!

I love this! 2 questions: where did you get the cellophane bags? And how did you make this label? I know you have a tutorial on your blog but am not sure how to create this design. I am sure I’ll have a “duh” moment after your explaination.
Thanks, and keep up the good work!
Thanks, Angela! The cellophane bags are from the dollar store. I got them about a year ago, so I’m not sure if they’re still out there or not. This label was actually made at picmonkey.com, a photo editing site. If you visit picmonkey and have questions about anything, let me know! I’d be happy to walk you through it. Hope you’re having a wonderful Monday!

Love the idea!! Where did you get the mugs?
Thanks, Abby! {Great name, btw! ;)} The mugs are from Target, Threshold brand, I believe. Thank you for visiting the blog! Have a great week!
~Abby =)
I’ve done this before with Sharpies and the colored sections have never dried (we are going on 1 full year since i baked them) What did you do to keep the colors from fading during baking and keeping the bright colors on once done. Thanks.
Hmmm…I definitely didn’t use any special sharpies or anything. My best guess would be that the types of mugs we used may have been different? I got these at Target, and I believe they’re Threshold brand. The finish was more matte rather than the glossy you see on some mugs, so that may have helped. Sorry I don’t have a secret trick to reveal! Thanks so much for visiting the blog, Kathy! Have a wonderful weekend!
~Abby =)
AHHHHH mine were glossy that may make all the difference. THANK YOU!!!
Yay! So glad we may have figured it out! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
~Abby =)
These are adorable! They are the only “thanks a latte” tags that I’ve seen that specifically say “teacher.” Love them!! I was wondering if you have an editable download so I could change teacher to “OT” and “speech therapist” also. Both my boys have autism and we have A LOT of people to thank! LOL, thanks again!!
Thank you so much, Keri! I emailed you–let me know if you have any questions! Have a wonderful weekend!
~Abby =)
Thanks so much Abby!! I really appreciate it so much!!
God bless!!
